Ki development technique (Ki Gong Bup)

Continuous breathing techniques (Boksik hoheupbup) 

(Breath in slowly through the nose and fill your abdomen till there is no more room then slowly exhale through the mouth till there is nothing to exhale. Repeat these steps 2 to 4 times.)

1.      Upright stance (moeumsae)

a.       Standing straight up breathing

b.      Lift arms outside circle push palm forward breathing

c.       Circle arm lift push palm downward breathing

d.      Gather palm center to sternum and split side to side brerathing

2.      Back stance (Jongjasae)

3.      Front stance (Kyuksangsae)

4.      Crane stance (Ipsae)

5.      Low front stance (kyukhasae)

Intermittent breathing techniques (Joongdan hoheupbup) 

(Breath in slowly through the nose and fill your abdomen till there is no more room then hold the breath long as possible then slowly exhale through the mouth till there is nothing to exhale. Repeat these steps 2 to 4 times.)

1.      Kigongsae (Nae kimasae)

2.      Jongjasae

3.      Kyuksangsae

4.      Ipsae

5.      Kyukhasae

 

Salutation/Bow (Insabup)

 

(Observing very strict protocol and etiquette is very crucial in weapons training otherwise accidents will occur besides, without this behavior no one will became a true warrior)

1.      To the Master and Instructor (Full kneeling position)  

2.      To the higher rank student (Half kneeling position)

3.      To the same rank student (Bow from the waist)

Bow steps: Attention! (Charyot!) – To master! (Kwan jang nim kkae!) – Bow! (Kyongyeh!) – Return! (Baro!) – Stand up! (Eerosuh!) – Class dismiss! (Sooryun kkut!)

Sword return (Chakdo/Chakgum)

 

            Place the left hand to the waist then, bring the right hand (holding sword) to the left hand so that the sword will be at between the left thumb and index finger (Make sure the sword edge is facing away from the belly).  Pull the sword toward right perpendicular to the belly and parallel to the floor until the tip of sword is held by the left thumb and index finger. Raise the sword handle toward the left in paralleled upright position and slightly angled away from the front of body. Lower the sword as if it is returning into the scabbard and simultaneously bring the feet together and assume an attention stance.

The 26 steps crane form (Ipsae hyung)

 

1.      Front stance sword draw (Kyuksangsae baldo), Ready (joobi).

2.      Left side upward block.

3.      Left side upright sword hold.

4.      Right side upright sword hold.

5.      Right crane stance.

6.      Right side shoulder cut with a right front stance.

7.      Left side upright sword hold (right front stance).

8.      Right side upright sword hold (right front stance).

9.      Assume a right crane stance.

10.  Right foot step back toward 6 o’clock and assume a back stance.

11.  Turn head clockwise toward 6 o’clock.

12.  Execute a left side shoulder cut toward 6 o’clock with a right front stance.

13.  Right side upright sword hold.

14.  Draw the right foot to left and assume a upright stance with a left upright sword hold.

15.  Assume a left crane stance.

16.  Execute a left side shoulder cut simultaneously assume a left front stance.

17.  Assume a right side upright sword hold.

18.  Draw the left foot into a upright stance with a left side upright sword hold.

19.  Assume a left crane stance.

20.  Step left foot down toward 12 o’clock and assume a left back stance.

21.  Turn head, counter clockwise toward 12 o’clock.

22.  Execute a right side shoulder cut toward 12 o’clock (front stance).

23.  Left side upright sword hold.

24.  Draw the left foot into upright stance with a right side upright sword hold.

25.  Assume a right crane stance.

26.  The right foot steps forward and assume a ready stance (Chakdo).
